The inaugural Grow GatHERing, held in 2022, was a captivating and impactful event that left a lasting impression on all who attended. With a focus on personal growth and empowerment, the event offered a carefully curated selection of workshops tailored to middle school female students. These workshops provided a transformative journey of self-discovery, enabling the participants to enhance their emotional well-being, develop self-esteem, and unlock their untapped potential. From exploring the depths of their capabilities to learning valuable skills for self-regulation, the attendees were empowered to embrace their own unique strengths and build a strong foundation for personal growth.


However, what truly set the Grow GatHERing apart was the sense of connection and community that emerged among the participants. The event became a platform for forging meaningful relationships and fostering a sense of belonging and social connectedness. The power of supportive relationships was palpable throughout the gathering, as the particpants uplifted and inspired each other. These bonds formed at the Grow GatHERing created a lasting impact, that will continue to influence and inspire these remarkable young women long after the event's conclusion. The inaugural Grow GatHERing of 2022 will be remembered as an experience that empowered and transformed the lives of its participants, leaving them equipped with the tools and connections needed to thrive on their personal journeys of growth and empowerment.



Here are some results from last year:


  • 95% of students stated they agreed or strongly agreed that they were leaving empowered and encouraged
  • 91% agreed or strongly agreed they had fun! 
  • 93.7% of parents/guardians surveyed state they agree or strongly agree they would recommend this event to other parents/guardians in their circle. 
  • 100% of parents/guardians surveyed stated their student expressed to them they had a positive experience at the Grow GatHERing


Here are our favorite quotes from our parent/guardians when asked what were some of the key takeaways their participant shared with them:

About the 2022 Event:
The Grow GatHERing is a piece of a larger action plan aimed at reducing substance use, promoting mental health, and building resilience in Park Hill area youth.  The content and event is designed to be fun and engaging for middle school students while also building in the essential protective factors of:

  • Positive Physical Development
  • Self-Esteem
  • Self-Efficacy
  • Emotional Self-Regulation
  • Supportive Relationships
  • Social Connectedness .

 Saturday, September 10th, 2022 9am-2pm (Check in opens at 8:30)LEAD Innovation Center  7201 N Line Creek Pkwy, Kansas City, MO 64151 7th or 8th grade female students in the 22-23 school year are invited to attend.  While the event is intended to reach youth in the Park Hill area, students from other areas can also register.
Event Schedule:

  • 8:30am- Check In 
  • 9:00am- Kick Off 
  • 10:00am- Choose Your Path Workshops  Topics: Better Friendships Gaining Confidence Managing Stress  Being Social and Safe Preparing for High School 
  • 11:15am- Pizza and Free Play
  • 12:10pm-  Rotation Stations focusing on empowering your brain, body, and future.   
  • 1:25 pm- Laugh and Launch 
  • 2:00pm: Dismissal

This one-day event is focused on building protective factors and challenging the growth of 7th and 8th grade female students. The Grow GatHERing is a piece of a larger action plan aimed at reducing substance use, promoting mental health, and building resilience in Park Hill area youth.
