About the Grow GatHERing

The Grow GatHERing is an event specifically targeting 7th and 8th grade female students that forms a vital part of our action plan, meticulously crafted to tackle the critical issues of substance use, mental health, and resilience in our youth. But wait, it gets even better! Not only is this event designed to address these pressing concerns, but it also promises an unforgettable experience filled with fun, excitement, and engagement. We've carefully curated the content and activities to ensure they have a blast while gaining essential life skills.

At the Grow GatHERing, we're providing participants with a gateway to bolstering their self-esteem, enhancing their self-efficacy, fostering emotional self-regulation, and nurturing the importance of supportive relationships and social connectedness.

Imagine the immense impact this transformative experience can have on your child's future. It's not just about a single event; it's about equipping them with the tools and resources necessary to navigate the challenges of adolescence successfully.

7th or 8th grade female students in the 24-25 school year are invited to attend.

While the event is intended to reach youth in the Park Hill area, students from other areas can also register.

If your daughter refers a friend to sign up for the Grow GatHERing, both she and her friend will earn an extra raffle ticket for a chance to win amazing prizes (both she and the friend will need to be registered). As a reminder our prizes include: Sporting KC tickets* will require a Seat Geek Account, tickets to a movie night at AMC theatres, tickets to the KC Zoo, and a Family Fun pack at Main Event and more!

How it works:

Have your daughter invite a friend to register for the Grow GatHERing
Make sure that her friend enters your daughter's first and last name when signing up in the Friend Referral Question and both of them will receive an additional raffle ticket.
The more friends she refers, the more chances she has to win!
Make sure they sign up soon, we will be closing registration before the event!

9:00 am- Check In

9:30am- Kick Off for the students

9:30- 10am- Parent/Guardian Session (parents depart after this session)

Navigating Social Media and the Internet with your child: You requested so we delivered! Over and Over we have heard from parents that they want more information on safely navigating social media and the internet with their growing teens, so this session is for you!

10:30am- Choose Your Path Workshops: During this part of the day you will choose 2 workshops to attend

LEAP into High School *Recommended for 8th grade participants
Planted and Growing- discover more about what helps you bloom into you!
Brains in Bloom - learn about how to protect your brain as you grow!
Pound into Wellness - High intensity drumming while learning about your wellness
U be U: Navigating Relationships in Middle School While Being True to Yourself!

11:45am- Pizza and Free Time

12:30pm- Rotation Stations: Theses sessions are 35 minutes and everyone will be rotating through them

How Full is Your Cup: Learn strategies for coping and self care
Yoga: Relax and recharge through a guided yoga session
Social Media Safety : learn about how to safely navigate the digital world

2:00pm- Parent/Guardian session (parents arrive early before dismissal)

Parent UP! As parents, we invest a lot of energy into safeguarding our children—through baby gates, seat belts, sunscreen, and more. But as our kids grow from age 8 to age 18, and their risks evolve, so too must our strategies and boundaries. This engaging workshop is designed to equip parents of 8-18 years old with the latest knowledge, effective communication strategies, and supportive resources to help children avoid substance use and other risky behaviors.

3:00pm: Dismissal
